1971 Dodge Challenger Barn Find on eBay

Barn Finds located this dusty 1970 Challenger for sale on eBay. It’s a 383 4-speed car that is a runner. Starting bid is an optimistic $25,000. The chrome strip surrounding the front end is said to be a rare option, code M28 (which is decoded as Front Bumper Periphery). Anybody familiar with this “option”? Follow the bidding here on eBay. More pics after the jump!

  1. I have never heard of nor have seen the chrome strip on a Challenger ( or ANY car for that matter) I agree that $25K is a bit optimistic, even for a MAX bid .. it will be a nice car once it is given a once over

    • oh yeah it was an available option. Almost as rare as the plastic elastomeric color keyed front bumpers on the ‘Cuda.

  2. I don’t recall a chrome strip on the nose of the Challenger ( or ANY car for that matter) $25K is a bit optimistic even for a MAX bid , and, isn’t that a ’71 grill? maybe even a 71 clip?

    • I would’ve taken out a loan to get this car restored. Fully restored it might fetch six figures at Mecum. Especially with that light gun metal color (see the engine bay in the ebay jump).

  3. I think the car was well worth the money I am surprised no one bid on it if I had the room for it I would have bought it I am in Australia with the $ conversion rate, shipping and taxes it would be close to $40000 AU but look at the options and condition how much do you think it is worth? the rallye dash alone is worth $1000 or more.

  4. I have seen these moldings on other challengers. Rare, but not super rare.
M28 is wide grill surround molding (aka front bumper periphery molding). I also see on this car A46 challenger molding group = belt moldings, front stone shield moldings, rear hood and fender moldings. J78 front spoiler too.
