The eight speed transmission did wonders for some of the big RWD Mopars in terms of gas mileage and performance. And a new nine speed is slated for cars like the Dart and the new Cherokee pictured below. Chrysler just announced that they are investing $20 million to increase capacity at the Toledo Machining Plant for the torque converter they are machining for the nine-speed transmission. I saw a Cool Vanilla Magnum in traffic the other day and was struck by how unique that color looks. It’s a very creamy white that looks great in my opinion. I couldn’t find any photos online that really do it justice–the photo below from 300Cforums came closest. This color saw a fairly limited production between 2005 and 2006 with a brief return in 2008 on some Chargers. More infe at Chargerforums and LXforums.
This thing has all the goodies from modern 6.1 Hemi power to big Willwood brakes. Wheels are custom Boze Alloy with Yokohama Advan STs–235/55R18 front and 305/45R20 rear. External mods include a ’72 Road Runner grille and a tucked ’71 Road Runner bumper. I dig the fiberglass hood with the old school Air Grabber. See more pics after the jump and check out the auction at eBay!
Update: it got bid up to $35,300 but reserve not met. Is the pro touring thing played out?
Hope the driver was ok. Headline at WCMessenger says she was pinned behind the wheel in a two car crash. We’ve got a pic of the Dart a few days earlier after the jump. Remember that these old cars don’t have much in the way of crumple zones. Wear your seatbelt and drive safe! Via Moparts
Ok, here’s an obscure one. Most people who watched Dazed and Confused are gonna remember Matthew McConaughey’s 1970 Chevelle. But do you remember this black wing car? I sure don’t! Need to watch it again, I guess. We’ll come back to Ben Affleck’s 1973 Plymouth Duster later. Trailer after the jump! Pic via IMCDB
