In addition to the excellent restorations we do here at Rocket Restorations, we also keep our own Mopar registry. When you start to look at the numbers of these cars, by which we mean the VIN number or the fender tag codes or other interesting things, you can find out a lot of information about them you wouldn’t normally see. Patterns start to emerge and you can learn a lot. Need help decoding your Mopar? Send us an e-mail

Seven Mopars That Made History

MSN recently published Muscle Cars: 20 That Made History and I counted seven Mopars on their list: 1956 Chrysler 300B, 1968 Plymouth Road Runner, 1968 Dodge Charger, 1970 AMC Rebel Machine, 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, 1970 Plymouth Superbird, 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8. Hmmm, I could probably think of a few more, like the 1968 Hemi Dart, but it’s not a bad start. What do you think?

Surprise Package: a Max Wedge-powered ’57 Chevy

Ok, how’s this for a barn find? A 1957 Chevy Bel Air gasser with a 426 Wax Wedge, B&M Torqueflite transmission, and 8 3/4 Chrysler rear end. The motor was formerly a spare for one of Jerry Stein’s “Teacher’s Pet” cars. The car was drug out of hiding in Pennsylvania back in February–here’s hoping the new owners keep it intact! More pics after the jump! Via The Car Lounge and BangShift.
