Automobile magazine contributing writer Ezra Dyer test drove a 2013 Viper. He seems to get that the Viper and Corvette do not run in similar circles. I love his quote, “The difference between the Corvette and the Viper is that the ’Vette wants to be a new Ferrari, while the Viper wants to be a 1965 Shelby Cobra. Either that, or a big rock on a catapult. It hasn’t decided.” Read the entire article at The New York Times.
Today’s reader’s ride is a bone stock 2013 R/T Challenger. But ordered right–black with a 6 speed! Two more pics after the jump!

Jalopnik recently drove a 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona all over Texas, and managed to snap a pic of it in front of the “Playboy Marfa” art installation I told you about last month. Although the reviewer seemed to like the car, he was disappointed by the 5-speed automatic and the quiet exhaust note. Oh, and the fuel economy. Well, the exhaust is an easy fix. Read the full review at Jalopnik and see what you think.
Ryan bought this stunning 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T new in Florida this year. Other than the stripes the only mod so far is Borla Atak exhaust. One more pic after the jump!

Ram just announced the arrival of the new “Black Express” model for 2013, which they are calling the “‘baddest-looking’ factory-built truck on the market.” Pretty much everything on this bad boy is black, from the 20 inch wheels to the black front fascia and black grille surround with black hex-link inserts, all the way to the black rear bumper. All body-side badging has been removed for a clean, menacing look. The Black Express is powered by a 5.7-liter Hemi producing 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. Pricing starts at $26,955, plus the usual $1,095 destination charge. One more pic after the jump, plus the full press release from Ram.
For the second month in a row, the Mustang outsold the Camaro in June, with 10,263 Mustangs sold vs 7,326 Camaros. Pony cars sales have been a bit sluggish lately–Mustang sales are down 9.9% and Camaro sales are down 20.7%. But here’s the cool news: last month Challenger sales were up 27.2% with 5,191 cars sold! High Plains Raceway in Deer Trail, Colorado is a mile above sea level, which typically accounts for a 15 percept loss of horsepower. But a bone stock 2013 SRT Viper seemed to do just fine here, setting a new track record for a production car. This red car was a base SRT with just the Track Pack, which includes two-piece brake rotors, lighter wheels and Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. SRT engineer Erich Heuschele set a record time of 1:57.69 on the 15-turn, 2.5-mile road course. Take that GT-R and ZR1! Check out the video after the jump! Via SRT
