Steve Magnante daily drives a Slant 6 1963 Dodge Dart GT twelve months of the year in Massachusetts. It was originally a California car, so the body is pretty good, though the interior is a bit rough. Steve gives us a quick look at his old Dart in this recent episode from the Dart Road Trip series on the official Dodge Youtube channel. My first car was a Slant 6-powered 1963 Valiant convertible with a pushbutton tranny, so I am a big fan of these old A-bodies. Video after the jump!
Love that it’s a daily driver and the “patina” but the winters too? Come on Steve!
I’d choose the ’63, which I love. I can buy a ’13 Dart from my CJD dealer (and might do so next year), but I CAN’T buy a ’63 Dart there!
74Furyous, I bought my ’64 Imperial three years ago in New Jersey. It had been a daily driver until two years prior to that, but the owner had kept it CLEAN. I don’t drive it in Illinois winters, but this car has NO rust. I was fortunate to find someone who cared for the Imperial for more than 40 years.
I’d rather have the ’63 Dart than the ‘013 because the ’63 is American made. The ‘013 is made overseas.
Actually, the new Dart is built in the US at Chrysler’s Belvidere Assembly Plant
Belvidere, the same place my 74 Fury was built!
