1969 Dodge Coronet: Pro Touring Gone Wrong

Normally I try to ignore bad builds, but this “Superbee Pro Touring Tribute Car” is a real travesty. The wheels are awful, the modernized interior is worse, and just say no to the Chevy black engine bay treatment (with or without a moden 5.7 Hemi swap). Or am I being too harsh? Two pics after the jump, but be sure to check out the for sale ad at pjsautoworld.com

  1. If only they had used their considerable skills for good instead of evil. Love that 6 Pak hood ramming fresh, cold air directly into……the plastic engine cover??

  2. You are correct. As Bart Simpson said “I didn’t think it was possible but this sucks and blows at the same time.”

  3. I agree, the wheels are kinda ugly, and I’d try to keep the interior as it was built. But, to be fair “to each his own.”. I give the owner credit for doing a lot of work on the car.

  4. could do with out the charger interior maybe some race style mopar buckets. and a little smaller diameter on the wheels to give some depth to the wheels but i have to agree about the ram air hood into the plastic cover ..lol
But hey if the builder/owner likes it i guess thats all that matters just as long as its not a donk..lol

  5. I love the lines of most Mopar Muscle , for some reason the Superbee never was one of my favorite Cars.. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great Car ! It just never excited me. But your right the Wheels suck and the Interior sucks worse.. I was always a 340 Dart or Demon Guy … And the Roadrunners “WOW” I love’em.. Even the 69 Charger , their OK ..But at one time I owned a 71 Charger R/T …440 Magnum , four speed… Lemon Twist .. Very nice and pretty fast too.

  6. To each there Own, My way would be the Old way! I hate the large wheels,to me It makes the Car’s and Truck’s Look like Clown Cars and Trucks. I had a 69 Coronet it was not a Super Bee but it was Beautiful to me. I would like to say that Original is Better! But it’s all In what you like! I Vote Original ! Thank’s Dennis Owens

  7. If I acquired this car and had the money, I would change the wheels, make the hood scoop functional, swap the 5.7 Hemi for a 3G Hemi crate engine from Arrington Performance, and install a new steering wheel.

As for the 5.7, I would keep it for another project … perhaps an old British roadster.

  8. Super Bee’s were really nice cars. No Roadrunner, but ok. This one looks ok but needs those wheels and tires back to more original. I might even go with Cragars and white letter Good Years. 15″ in the rear and 14″ in the front. The scoop don’t work but it looks good. I would put the 1″ hemi letters on the scoop as well.

  9. i think he did a wonderful job if this is his everyday car made it more modern now if he doesnt drive this care everyday what in your right mind are you doing this is a classic its worth more money if you keep it that way dont put a import motor in a car where it is not wanted
