Allpar is reporting that a SRT version of the new Jeep Cherokee is in the works. It will be AWD and with a hopped-up motor and utilize the nine-speed automatic transmission. No word on the engine: could be a Maserati-sourced twin-turbo V6 pushing over 400 hp, or a turbo 3-liter Pentastar V6 producing anywhere from 375 to 410 hp. This would definitely help enhance the image of the new Cherokee and could be a cool little ride if the price was right. Rendering by Suzqo44 at Allpar

Reader’s Rides: Kevin Frazier’s 1975 Plymouth Duster
Check out this sweet Slant Six A-body, which has been in Kevin’s family since the beginning. Here’s the word from Kevin:
This Duster was originally bought in February of ’76. It was purchased by my Grandmother and has worked its way down to myself. This car was never sold until I bought it from my Father. He is the man that has restored this car and all I am doing is a little finishing touches. All mechanical has been rebuilt, interior has been recovered and paint has been done. We love playing with old cars like this out here in the woods of East Texas.

Dodge Charger Most Stolen New Car in America
The Dodge Charger is the most stolen new car in American according to the NHTSA. In 2011, it accounted for 4.8 thefts for every 1,000 cars produced. According to Automotive News, it is unclear why the Charger tops the list.
Experts are not exactly sure what makes the Charger so popular with thieves, although the car’s ample horsepower might be part of the equation. “If I were a thief I might be able to answer that better,” Moore (Vice President of the NHTSA) said during a phone interview. “They’re powerful vehicles,” he added.”
Still, thefts as a whole are on a sharp decline because of the use of ignition immobilizers. But that might not be enough if someone really wants your Mopar.
2009 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak With Zero Miles on eBay
You’re looking at #76 of just 100 Drag Pak Challengers built in 2009. So what’s so special? This one has ZERO miles on it. Almost five years after it rolled off the assembly line, this Drag Pak Challenger is totally factory fresh and unmolested! The intake is still sealed in plastic! These cars are not street legal and cannot be made street legal. And they are missing lots of stuff–such a a final drivetrain. Still, think of the possibilities here. And the Buy It Now is just $47,900. So… would you preserve it or race it? Tons more pics after the jump, including the eBay auction text.
Magic Powder Challenger

TONS more pics after the jump!

2011 Dodge Charger vs. The General Lee
What happens when you put a late model Charger up against the late 60s icon? The guys at Edmunds decided to find out. Who do you think won? Check out the video after the jump! There’s also a second interview with Bob Hartwig of Cinema Vehicle Services, who provided the authentic 440-powered General Lee, one of just 17 to survive filming the original TV series.
Note: there used to be an Inside Line article which went along with the video, but Edmunds deleted it when they decided to kill off Inside Line. Go figure.
