PPG sponsored a competition among five manufacturers to design a custom pace car for the 1981 IndyCar World Series. AMC took a Spirit AMX and built a completely new fiberglass body and added a turbocharged and fuel injected 258 ci inline six. The result is a one of one factory custom car! 2014 Chrysler 300 SRT Review
Left Lane reviewed the 2014 300 SRT. Overall, they seem impressed with the beast but points were lost due to its aging 5 speed transmission. When the new 8 speed mates with the 6.4, it should make a big performance difference. I’ll take mine in black thank you very much. Read the review at Left Lane. More pics after the jump!
1970 Charger Restomod
She goes by the name Pure Punishment. I like it. Classic muscle car on the outside with a modern interior, running gear, brakes and a 6.1L Hemi backed up by a Tremec 6 speed. Suspension consists of a custom 4 link rear but with a C6 Corvette front suspension. Looks evil! See the story and more pics at Street Legal TV.
General Lee on the Road to Recovery
This 1969 Charger in General Lee livery was the victim of a house fire in 2011. Down but not out, the owner is rebuilding with the goal of jumping Fury sedans by next summer. Here’s hoping that the south will rise again. See the story at Street Legal TV. More pics and a video after the jump!
How Fast Can a HellCat Go?
No official final numbers yet but coupling the supercharged HellCat engine (estimated to be between 550 and 620 hp) with the ZF eight speed automatic will surely produce one fast automobile! Allpar puts the magic number at over 200 mph. See more at Allpar.
Viper Design Flaw Investigation Concludes
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation on the 2003-2008 Dodge Viper after as many as eight accidents all showed post-crash damage to the rear suspension knuckles. Eight months and 9,670 Vipers later, they determined that the knuckles were damaged as a result of the accidents and were not a cause. The true cause of the accidents was deemed to be human error. See the story here at Car Buzz.
Near Mint 1970 Duster
Check out this semi-survivor Duster (one repaint) with a reported 15,835 miles in a very nice 70’s brown. There’s something off-putting about it but I just can’t put my finger on it. Chrome valve cover maybe? No, that’s not it. See more details at Hooniverse. More pics after the jump!

Dandy Dick Landy
The cigar smoking, drag racing Dick Landy put a straight axle from an A100 van under his 1964 Dodge 330 and radically altered the wheelbase to create a drag car that was referred to as a funny car because, well, it looked funny. The rest is history. Read a piece on his racing career in Hemmings Motor News.
1962 Polara 500 with a Max Wedge
While not an original Max Wedge car, that engine compartment is still a thing of beauty! It’s purported to have been a Max Wedge race car for most of its life. Today it’s a retired race horse built to enjoy cruise nights. See more detail at Bring A Trailer. More pics after the jump!
