Finding an old Mopar in a barn is getting harder. How about finding two Mopars in the same barn? A barn in Tennessee possesses a 1970 Super Bee Six Pack and a 1970 convertible Challenger! They’re not for sale but look to be in great shape and are at least somewhat out of the elements. Want a 1968 Charger with a rare engine option? How about this survivor still sprouting it’s 225 ci six? It was second in rarity only to the Hemi. It was found in the lot of a Mopar restoration shop. It’s a model made before plastic catalytic converters so it’ll run good on regular plastic gas. What do you say, is it the new Lego Bluesmobile or what?” It’s the entire mall chase scene from The Blues Brothers but done in Lego! Steve Saleen began tuning Mustangs in 1983 and progressed to building his own Saleen S7 supercar. To celebrate 30 years in the industry, Saleen Automotive is producing three unique, and very limited, special editions of the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger. Known as the 570 Challenger, the Dodge is to get engine, suspension and styling changes. Not much detail yet but the Mustang is getting a supercharger, so there’s a good chance the Challenger will too. Only 10 Challengers will be produced, all in a white pearl color, at a starting price of $95,000. See more at Street Legal TV.
Barn finds are just plain cool. Finding an old, dust covered Mopar that hasn’t seen the light of day for 20 plus years has a certain mystic. While the vision of a full blown restoration comes to mind for most, others want to keep that day of discovery feeling by way of NOT restoring them. Heck, not even cleaning them! As a follow up to our recent piece on the Viper TA walk around with Ralph Gilles, SRT has confirmed that they are increasing production of the track ready Viper from the planned 33 cars to 159! Good news given the less than expected sales of the 2013 Viper. See more info at CarBuzz.
Dart and Charger referring to the same car? Yes sir. In 1965 you could order a Dodge Dart Charger. It was equipped with the 4 bbl Commando 273, various mechanical and trim upgrades and special “Charger” badging. It was the model that first introduced the Charger name.
