The Plymouth Road Runner is perhaps my favourite Mopar. Plymouth saw a need in the market place for a muscle car with the emphasis on muscle. Keep it simple, keep it light, keep it cheap. It worked. Sure you could equip it with the Hemi and a whole list of options but even the basic post car with the 383, 4 speed, steel wheels and bench seat just looked “right”. Allpar has done a great write-up on the car. Grab a coffee and read about it here!

Violent Valiant
Bangshift, along with Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle in Addison, Illinois, have started a build they have named Project Violent Valiant. The plan is a 1964 Pro-Touring ’64 Valiant sporting a “biggish inch” Chrysler wedge engine with Hilborn fuel injection and backed up by a Tremec stick box. Per Bangshift, “This machine will be a purpose built car with all the flavor of a vintage Trans-Am racer packing the modern technology that’ll make it corner and stop hard enough to make the asphalt beneath its tires scream for mercy.” Sounds evil! Find details here at Bangshift. They promise weekly updates of the build.
Mr. Norm’s Sports Club
It’s been 50 years since Mr. Norm opened Grand Spaulding Dodge in 1963. Coinciding with the delivery of his first order of Dodges, which consisted of nothing less than four truckloads of Max Wedge sedans and hardtops, he started the Mr. Norm’s Sports Club. In commemoration of his 50th Anniversary, Norm would like to invite everyone in the Mopar community to join him in celebrating this milestone with a free one-year membership in the legendary Mr. Norm’s Sports Club. Just like in the ‘60s, everyone will receive the monthly newsletter that has the latest news and scoops, along with discounts on Mr. Norm’s memorabilia, parts, accessories and vehicle packages for Mopars. Sign up here at Mr. Norms.
All in the Family 1969 Chargers
These two beautiful Chargers, both sporting F8 Dark Green paint, share garage space in Ohio. The Charger was purchased new by the current owners father in 1969. Both father and son then fell hard for the new Charger Daytona but never did make the plunge. Over the years, the Charger received several upgrades and was restored. Then, in 2001, the son was able to fulfill the dream shared with his now departed father and found a Charger Daytona, also in F8 Dark Green! Read more detail here at Auto Enthusiast. 1970 Challenger T/A Super Stock Survivor on Ebay
This 1970 Challenger T/A is still wearing the same paint job it raced with in 1970. With only 3,103 miles, most everything else is original too! Immediately after it was purchased, it was prepared for the drag strip. Apparently, due to a falling out between the owner and the builder, the car’s track days were very limited. The paint, the rake, the wheels and tires–just perfect. See it here on eBay. More pictures after the jump!
The Charger Pursuit is Officially the Fastest Cop Car
I’m not sure if this is good news or bad new but the Charger Pursuit, equipped with the 370 horse 5.7 Hemi, is the fastest police car on the market, both in RWD and AWD. Both cars clocked their record setting times at Michigan’s Grattan Raceway with the Michigan State Police behind the wheel. In my book it also wins the Best Looking Police Package award. 1,350 Horsepower Dodge Viper
Have you been considering a new Viper but you’re a little disappointed with the stock power output? One man’s answer was to turn to RSI Racing Solutions. They built this twin turbo V10 monster pushing 1350 HP on race gas, 1000 HP on pump gas. That should be more than adequate. See more details here at Car Buzz. More pictures after the jump.
2014 Challenger to Get Launch Control
The Challenger will continue into 2014 with no major changes. One welcome addition, available on the 470 hp SRT8, will be launch control. Launch control is already available on the Camaro ZL1 and Shelby GT500. Just like back in the day, Chrysler still seems to be playing catch-up! The V6 model also gets new suspension and appearance packages consisting of 20-inch wheels, performance tires, 3:07 rear-end gearing, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a sport suspension, bigger brakes, and a new “Sport” shifting mode for the transmission. 1968 Sox and Martin Barracuda for Sale
An actual 1968 Plymouth Barracuda once owned by Sox and Martin is for sale! It was the last car actually raced by Sox with documentation to prove it. It is 1 of only 50 factory-made drag cars meant for the elite teams. These cars do not become available very often. This is a true piece of Mopar history. Albeit, one at a quarter of a million dollars. See the listing at RPM Motor Cars with more info on the car atStreet Legal TV. And be sure to check out more pictures after the jump!
