1968 Plymouth Barracuda Factory B029 for Sale

In a recent post about a Sox and Martin Barracuda that was for sale, I noted that since they only produced about 50 and that “these cars do not become available very often”. OK, I was wrong. While it doesn’t have the provenance of the Sox and Martin car, this non-numbers matching, Ray Barton built Hemi Barracuda is still one to lust after. See the details at Hemmings. 1971 340 Plymouth Duster Headed For The Crusher

We at Rocket Restorations are heading down to the Fall Fling Mopar show in Van Nuys, California this weekend and hit some wrecking yards heading south.

In Northern California we found this real 340 Auto FY1 Yellow 1971 Plymouth Duster just sitting in a wrecking yard.  We tried to buy the car but they said the paperwork had already been turned into the DMV and they would not sell the car whole.  So many good parts on this one, it is still complete with the 340 motor and small block 727 transmission.  They are selling parts off of it, but the car will have to be crushed, so sad.  See more pictures after the jump.

Mr. Norm’s Hemi Dart Crosses the Auction Floor

At Mecum’s Illinois auction last week, a 1968 Hemi Dart that was sold new through Mr. Norm’s Chicago dealership 45 years ago sold for $125,000. Chrysler produced 80 Hemi Darts in 1968 with the help of Hurst, and Norm Krause’s Grand Spaulding Dodge dealership reportedly sold 13 of them! These were lightweight cars made for one purpose–to own the drag strip. A Hemi said to be pushing 600 hp in a 3150 lb car? Yep, sounds about right! Read more at StreetLegalTV. More pictures after the jump.

Violent Valiant

Bangshift, along with Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle in Addison, Illinois, have started a build they have named Project Violent Valiant. The plan is a 1964 Pro-Touring ’64 Valiant sporting a “biggish inch” Chrysler wedge engine with Hilborn fuel injection and backed up by a Tremec stick box. Per Bangshift, “This machine will be a purpose built car with all the flavor of a vintage Trans-Am racer packing the modern technology that’ll make it corner and stop hard enough to make the asphalt beneath its tires scream for mercy.” Sounds evil! Find details here at Bangshift. They promise weekly updates of the build.
