My 4-Speed 1969 Dart GTS 340

The story starts in 1968 when a new 1969 Dart GTS, 340/4 speed car with a console tachometer is ordered up. By 1970 it is being raced with the 340/4 speed in it, and was repainted white and green with mags on it. In the early 1970s my grandfather ended up getting it and turning the car into a all out drag car with a mild 318 and 727. By the 2000s the car was retired and was a roller. A couple years back I ended up getting the roller and built a 1971 340 for it that is .30 over, 10.5:1cr, j headed (for now), .480 Cam Dynamics camshaft (for now). Future plans are to install a .590 Solid Roller camshaft along with a pair of ported and polished heads. More pics after the jump!

1968 Sox and Martin Barracuda for Sale

An actual 1968 Plymouth Barracuda once owned by Sox and Martin is for sale! It was the last car actually raced by Sox with documentation to prove it. It is 1 of only 50 factory-made drag cars meant for the elite teams. These cars do not become available very often. Reader’s Rides: Mark Brooks’ 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger

You guys might remember that Mark provided us with the great pics from the 2013 Mopars in the Park. And also the pics from the Junkyard in Turlock, California. Well, Mark also has a very cool ’71 Dart Swinger project that he’s been working on for several years now. Here’s the word from Mark:

This is what it had when I bought it:
engine: 318
trans: Torqueflite 904
rear: 7.25″ one legger
color: GY3 (Citron Yella/Curious Yellow) this color was used by Mopar ONLY in 1971, less than 3% of the Dodge Darts made for ’71 were painted this color.

I immediately started tearing into it.. quickly finding that the previous owner thought it would be a good idea to use power steering fluid in the brake master cylinder (d’oh!), so I knew the entire brake system would need an overhaul.

1968 Dart as Spec’d Out by an Engineer

What happens when an engineer with a demand for detail acquires a heavily modified ’68 Dart powered by a 6.1 Hemi and sporting a Keisler transmission, B&M shifter, RMS suspension and a Strange Dana S60? Tear it down and build it again of course! The car went through a major second rebuild with virtually all new sheet metal, suspension, interior and an Indy Cylinder Head 6.1 Hemi. All that and he kept the Strange Dana S60! End result: 660 HP at 6900 rpm. You can’t second guess the man. Find the full story, and the build-in-process pictures, at Street Legal TV. Reader’s Rides: Kegan Banister’s 1974 Plymouth Scamp

Today’s reader’s ride is a teenager’s first car, owned by Kegan Banister from Indiana. Writes Kegan:

My first car at 15 is a 1974 Plymouth Scamp 318/904 car, purchased from the original owners family. It came with some dealer paperwork, had a near mint Broadcast sheet in the back seat. Originally KY4 Golden Fawn/Gold. I’m building it as a 70s/80s sorta street machine (8track and all). Currently building a ’68 340/727 for it. I’ve not really had to do all that much to the car since I purchased it. All bodywork has been finished on it, re-chromed bumpers put on. The picture of it in three colors is right after I had bought it.

Definitely a great introduction to the hobby! More pics after the jump!
