1969 Road Runner Post Car on Craigslist

Street Legal TV discovered this 1969 Road Runner coupe on Craigslist. Originally a triple black car, it received an orange paint job that didn’t seem to hold up very well. The result is pretty unique. While not really a rare car (with production numbers for the coupe of 33,743), a 383 in a post car (referring to the B pillar) is a perfect example of what Plymouth envisioned for the Road Runner; fast, light and inexpensive. It sure would look nice in black again with steelies and dog dish hubcaps. See it at Street Legal TV. More pics after the jump!

Two Dodges Awaiting Rebirth

Why do people let these beauties decay like this? If you’re keeping them to someday rebuild them then fine but at least take steps to stop any further deterioration. If you’re waiting for the market prices to climb in order to sell them then fine but, again, at least take steps to stop any further deterioration! Not much of a story to go with the pictures but the pictures alone say alot. See them at Cars in Barns. More pics after the jump.

Vintage Mopar NASCAR Photo of the Week: Cotton Owens Garage Circa 1967

Want to see what a Championship NASCAR garage looked like in 1967? Well here you go. This is from early 1967 just after the COG had won the 1966 Grand National Championship. Owens was one of the main factory sponsored Chrysler teams at the time and he had a lot of cars to work with compared to other teams in 1967. You can see two 1966 Dodge Charger’s here and you can see what a NASCAR cage looked like in 1967.  The cage was still pretty primitive at this point in Grand National history. Full door bars were not mandatory until 1968.

Breaking Down a 65 Dodge Coronet: Is This Car Special?

We at Rocket Restorations keep our own Mopar registry. Galen isn’t the only one who keeps track of these cars. When you start to look at the numbers of these cars, whether it is the VIN number or the fender tag codes or other interesting things, you can find out a lot of information about them you wouldn’t normally see. Patterns start to emerge and you can learn a lot. This week we are going to break down a 1965 Dodge Coronet that just came through our shop. Continue reading after the jump!

Biggest Turn Off When Looking For a New Old Mopar?

I can deal with a lot of things when looking for a new old Mopar. Non-running is fine. A few states away is fine. Modifications? That’s ok, if they are reversible. Non-number matching? No biggie. Rust? Not a huge fan, but hey, when you are talking about something 40+ years old there might be a little rust. But a black Chevy spray bombed engine bay like the one on this 1970 Plymouth Satellite convertible on eBay? Instant turn off and deal breaker.

How about you?

1965 Dodge Coronet Wagon Sleeper on Craigslist

If a cream colored 1965 Dodge Coronet station wagon pulls up next to you at a light and the engine revs in that tell-tale way indicating that the driver would like to “compare” powertrains, don’t be so quick to take him up on his offer. It might be this guy! Sporting a 600hp 470 stroker wedge with a Cope racing transmission, the car has run a 10.98 at 121mph! Not too bad for a car with a roof rack. See it here at Bring A Trailer. Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s 1972 Charger Stolen

Early morning on November 6, thieves broke into Picture Car Warehouse in the San Fernando Valley and stole five vehicles, including Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s 1972 Dodge Charger. It doesn’t appear that his car was a particular target as the other stolen vehicles included a 2005 Mini Cooper, a BMW M3, a Ford Econoline van, and an F-150 pickup. Three cars have been recovered and two people are in custody. The Charger is not an inconspicuous car, even in LA. It may also have some bodywork damage and yellow paint transfer as it hit a taxi while being stolen from the warehouse. If you spot it, please contact the Los Angeles Police Dept. at 818-374-7611. More info on the heist at Hot Rod.
