1976 Aspen R/T and Volare Road Runner
The early 70s oil crisis in the US changed the muscle car world almost overnight. Hemis were long gone and big blocks were on life support. While the 360-powered Aspen R/T and Volare Road Runner were rated at only 170 hp, they were still competitive with the Camaro, Corvette and Trans Ams of the day. Are there many F-body fans out there? See the story at Hooniverse. More pics after the jump!

Roadkill Builds a Mad Max Style 1968 Charger
You were expecting a concours restoration, maybe? The latest episode of Hot Rod’s Roadkill finds Freiburger and Finnegan building a Charger from a rolling shell, a motorhome 440 and their Fury’s 727. It took six months–not their usual six days–and in their opinion, it’s the best episode of Roadkill ever. It looks mean and sounds meaner. Video after the jump!
1970 Charger Restomod
She goes by the name Pure Punishment. I like it. Classic muscle car on the outside with a modern interior, running gear, brakes and a 6.1L Hemi backed up by a Tremec 6 speed. Suspension consists of a custom 4 link rear but with a C6 Corvette front suspension. Looks evil! See the story and more pics at Street Legal TV.
General Lee on the Road to Recovery
This 1969 Charger in General Lee livery was the victim of a house fire in 2011. Down but not out, the owner is rebuilding with the goal of jumping Fury sedans by next summer. Here’s hoping that the south will rise again. See the story at Street Legal TV. More pics and a video after the jump!
How Fast Can a HellCat Go?
No official final numbers yet but coupling the supercharged HellCat engine (estimated to be between 550 and 620 hp) with the ZF eight speed automatic will surely produce one fast automobile! Allpar puts the magic number at over 200 mph. See more at Allpar.
Viper Design Flaw Investigation Concludes
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation on the 2003-2008 Dodge Viper after as many as eight accidents all showed post-crash damage to the rear suspension knuckles. Eight months and 9,670 Vipers later, they determined that the knuckles were damaged as a result of the accidents and were not a cause. The true cause of the accidents was deemed to be human error. See the story here at Car Buzz.

Reader’s Rides: Pete Unger’s 1967 Dodge Coronet 440 Wagon
I think this is the first wagon we have featured on Reader’s Rides. Here’s the word from Pete:
My name I Pete, I’m out of Amityville, New York. This is Rocket, my 1967 Dodge Coronet 440 wagon with a 383 under the hood, posi rear and rotor front brakes. Just for the record, some of my friends and wife don’t understand why I bought a wagon. Theres something really tuff about a old souped up wagon that grabs my eye. I have a friend who works for DMV and he ran a search for other Dodge coronet wagons registered on Long Island. He found out that I have the only ’67 coronet 440 wagon (that is registered) on all of Long Island.
