The Mopar Top Eliminator Program is Back!

This will be the seventh season of the Top Eliminator program, which honers the best Mopar restorers and modifiers. A total of four winners will be selected in 2013. Two winners will be chosen from competitions at Mopars in the Park and the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals. A third will will be picked from drag cars at the NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. And this is super cool: a fourth will be chosen online. Builders can upload pics of their Mopars and people will vote to determine the winner. More details at Chyrsler.com

Below is the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 owned by Tom Ledoux of Pearland, Texas which won last year.

1969 Dodge Charger Daytona is the Perfect Vehicle for Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious 6

Check out what Vin Diesel told the guys at Top Gear:

“I felt like the Daytona spoke to the character,” Diesel said. “It’s always a big process picking the cars and the casting of the car normally reflects the state of mind of our characters.”

Director Justin Lin also thought it was the perfect car for this film:

“The Daytona is a car I had been looking at for the last three Fast & Furious films but they never felt right,” Lin explained. “It did for this one.”

Have you see Fast & Furious 6 yet? What did you think? If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the trailer after the jump!

Viper Defender on eBay

Actually, the auction ended this weekend with the reserve not met, after the car from the famous 90s TV show was bid up to $174,100. The seller claims the same car failed to sell at Mecum back in 2010 for $270,000. More pics plus ad text after the jump! Via eBay

Defiance Charger is One Badass Mopar

After that awesome Defiance preview last week I thought we’d take a closer look at the Defiance Charger. Dodge has worked with SyFy in the past–on shows like Ghost Hunters and 31 Days of Halloween–so they were first in line for this integrated video game/tv series, which was under development for five years. Dodge was very involved in the design process and approved all renderings before the final car was built. I think it looks great with power bulge and rust, and of course Chargers look great with push bars so they are a no brainer for a post-apocalyptic badass look. Under those visual mods is a relatively stock 2013 Charger. More pics after the jump! Via Jalopnik and Allpar

Movie Mopar of the Week: 1970 Dodge Challenger from Death Proof

Tarantino loves to reference other movies in his films, and the white 1970 Dodge Challenger from Death Proof overtly referenced the Challenger from Vanishing Point. All E-bodies have frameless windows so they had to weld in frames for the “masthead” stunt. You can check out the whole chase scene with the ’69 Charger after the jump!

Joe Strummer’s Lost Dodge

Dodge built a 3700 GT for the Euro market in the 70s and apparently Joe Strummer acquired one during a trip to Spain in 1984/5–a trip to get away from The Clash, which was in the process of breaking up. He then lost the Dodge in a parking garage in Madrid, which has now inspired a documentary called “I Need a Dodge.” Sound cool? Filmmaker Nick Hall is looking for funds to complete the film and is asking for donations to complete the film. Trailer after the jump!
