2014 Jeep Cherokee Getting Rave Reviews

Yeah, it looks funky. Yeah, it’s based on an Italian FWD platform. But, it sounds like it might be pretty darn good. Motor Trend hated the Viper but they seemed to like the new baby Jeep, saying, “The Cherokee can compete head to head with any of the modern small crossovers on the road. Off-road, it will bury them.” You can read a summary of some of the other reviews over at Allpar

Insane Custom 1987 Jeep Comanche on Craigslist

Here’s one for our growing WTF category. This custom Comanche will either sear your eyeballs or make you laugh. I kind of like it, but wish they’d picked a Ranger or S-10. A lot of work plus a fair amount of misguided creativity went into this thing. To add insult to injury, it now has SBC power. More pics plus Craigslist ad text after the jump! Via Jalopnik

Jeep Cherokee SRT in the Works

Allpar is reporting that a SRT version of the new Jeep Cherokee is in the works. It will be AWD and with a hopped-up motor and utilize the nine-speed automatic transmission. No word on the engine: could be a Maserati-sourced twin-turbo V6 pushing over 400 hp, or a turbo 3-liter Pentastar V6 producing anywhere from 375 to 410 hp. This would definitely help enhance the image of the new Cherokee and could be a cool little ride if the price was right. Rendering by Suzqo44 at Allpar

Jeep Subcompact Sport-Utility Coming in 2014

According to Edmunds, Jeep will build a new subcompact sport-utility at a factory in Italy. The new baby Jeep will be based on a Fiat platform and will be about the size of a Ford Fiesta. This will be a global vehicle, sold in the United States, Europe, Asia and beyond starting in 2014.
