2009 US Air Force “Vapor” Challenger

Up for auction, this 2009 Challenger, built by Galpin Auto Sports in partnership with the United States Air Force, was used as a recruiting tool by showcasing the technological advances employed by the U.S. Air Force. A thermal imaging camera, radar absorbing stealth black paint, a “silent mode” exhaust note, and the ability to be remotely controlled to name but a few features. Michael Knight, eat your heart out. See the features at Mercum Auctions. More pics after the jump!

Speed Sport Life Road Tests the Challenger R/T Plus

While the Challenger SRT garners all the praise from the press, the R/T is no slouch either. The reviewer does not fall into the usual retro muscle car comparison. “To pencil the Challenger into the same space as the Camaro and Mustang is to somewhat miss the point. Though it occupies similar market territory, the Dodge has always been more about combining the visceral sounds and sights of the muscle car era with roominess and comfort not offered by its competitors.” Agreed! Dodge 100th Anniversary Editions

In 1914, the Dodge brothers struck out on their own and never looked back. To commemorate their centennial, Dodge is releasing two limited production cars early in 2014 based on the Charger and the Challenger. Both cars will be available in an exclusive “High Octane” red pearl coat paint with unique 20 inch wheels and badging. The flat bottom steering wheel, formerly only available on SRT’s, is a nice touch. There are also many smaller details such as a different color “100” on the speedometers and brass colored accent stitching as a reminder of the Dodge brothers machinist heritage. See more detail at Allpar.

Slammed Charger SRT8

Check out this Charger SRT8 kissing the asphalt. This style may not be for everyone but you have to admit, it certainly has presence. The lowering came thanks to a Universal Air suspension with BC coils and custom rear arms from Jay’s Hot Rods. The wheels were custom made by Avant Garde. Sized at 21×10.5-13 up front and 21×12.5-23 in the rear! Find more detail at StanceNation. More pictures after the jump!
