Chrysler is on a bit of a roll with special editions. The latest is a metallic matte black and satin finished Viper GTS Anodized Carbon Edition (GTS ACE anyone?) giving it an even more sinister look. It features black chrome “Rattler” wheels accompanied by other unique exterior trim pieces and finishes. The only splash of color, orange, can be found on the calipers, the stitching and a few interior accents. It is limited to a run of just 50 vehicles. Look for it in a very few showroom floors in January. See more detail here at CarBuzz. More pics from the LA Auto Show after the jump!

Dodge 100th Anniversary Editions
In 1914, the Dodge brothers struck out on their own and never looked back. To commemorate their centennial, Dodge is releasing two limited production cars early in 2014 based on the Charger and the Challenger. Both cars will be available in an exclusive “High Octane” red pearl coat paint with unique 20 inch wheels and badging. The flat bottom steering wheel, formerly only available on SRT’s, is a nice touch. There are also many smaller details such as a different color “100” on the speedometers and brass colored accent stitching as a reminder of the Dodge brothers machinist heritage. Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s 1972 Charger Stolen
Early morning on November 6, thieves broke into Picture Car Warehouse in the San Fernando Valley and stole five vehicles, including Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s 1972 Dodge Charger. It doesn’t appear that his car was a particular target as the other stolen vehicles included a 2005 Mini Cooper, a BMW M3, a Ford Econoline van, and an F-150 pickup. Three cars have been recovered and two people are in custody. The Charger is not an inconspicuous car, even in LA. It may also have some bodywork damage and yellow paint transfer as it hit a taxi while being stolen from the warehouse. If you spot it, please contact the Los Angeles Police Dept. at 818-374-7611. More info on the heist at Hot Rod.

The Shaker hood is back. Yes, we’ve seen aftermarket versions for the Challenger, but this is a factory setup and is available on Challengers for the 2014 model year. That not good enough for you? The R/T Shaker packages includes the “Super Track Pak, with high-performance steering gear, brake linings and monotube shock absorbers, P245/45R20 Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car three-season tires and three-mode electronic stability control (ESC) with “full off” mode.” Dodge also unveiled the New Mopar ’14 Challenger–only 100 of these will be built. Last but not least, the Scat Pack is officially back! This not only includes “three Mopar-engineered stage kits arriving in Spring 2014” but a whole club package reminiscent of the original Scat Pack. A Wrangler With Independent Suspension?
There’s a persistent rumor that Jeep may be looking at losing the 2016 Wrangler’s solid axles in favor of an independent setup to lower weight and improve mileage. Jeep’s brand manager acknowledged the rumors and will not deny them. I fear another sanitized SUV for the masses. Find more detail on The Truth About Cars.
