Plymouth Barracuda’s 50th Birthday
It’s been 50 years since Plymouth rolled out the world’s first pony car, even before the term pony car was coined. It came into the world quietly, grew to intimidate the competition with big blocks, hemispherical combustion chambers and SCCA racing, then bowed out quietly just as the fuel crisis hit. Read a great recap of the Barracuda at Hemmings.
A-990 Super Stock Hemi Cars at Detroit Autorama
A highlight of Detroit Autorama were the A-990 Super Stock Hemi cars in attendance, like this amazing 1965 Dodge Coronet. Click through to see more pics of the Coronet, and the meticulously restored 1965 Plymouth Belvedere that made its first appearance at the show (you can read more about the Belvedere here). 1969 Plymouth Road Runner with Crate Hemi on eBay
I usually prefer factory correct cars over modified ones but it’s hard to compare what was once a light green metallic 383 Road Runner with a titanium dark metallic and black, 525 horsepower 472 Hemi powered, 4 speed that just looks menacing. The crate motor wasn’t the only nod to modern technology either. Discovered by Bring A Trailer. Check out the original eBay auction as well. More pics after the jump!
1968 Blown Hemi Plymouth Barracuda on eBay
Check out this wild 1968 Barracuda powered by a supercharged 520 inch Hemi with zero miles since completion. Said to have over $80,000 invested, the Buy It Now price is $50,000. This is apparently the third time that it has been posted for sale. Charmed? I might want a new fuel cell though. Find more detail at Street Legal TV and be sure to check out the auction action on eBay. More pics after the jump!

Replica of Richard Petty’s Daytona Winning 1964 Plymouth Belvedere
Richard Petty’s Daytona-winning 1964 Plymouth Belvedere replica was featured in the April issue of Hot Rod Magazine, which also has a good article on the 426 Hemi. Those of you without a subscription (or who are unwilling to head down to the newsstand), check out this site, which has a ton of photos and information about the car.
One of One 1970 Lego Superbird
Not content with owning possibly the only Lego Road Runner, the builder went all out, optioning it with the mighty 426 and an A833. Nice finish on the lemon twist yellow paint. Find it at Street Legal TV. Video after the jump!
White on White 1970 Plymouth GTX
The seller says this 1970 440 six barrel GTX is the only one in alpine white with a white interior known to exist. Maybe that’s why it really seems to stand out. Find the details at Hemmings.
