Seven Mopars That Made History

MSN recently published Muscle Cars: 20 That Made History and I counted seven Mopars on their list: 1956 Chrysler 300B, 1968 Plymouth Road Runner, 1968 Dodge Charger, 1970 AMC Rebel Machine, 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, 1970 Plymouth Superbird, 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8. Hmmm, I could probably think of a few more, like the 1968 Hemi Dart, but it’s not a bad start. What do you think?

Twin Turbo Supra-Powered Plymouth Scamp

We’ve featured a lot of weird non-Mopar Hemi swaps. But this is the first time we’ve featured a Mopar with non-Mopar power. This 1971 Scamp was apparently rescued from an Arizona scrapyard. It then got the full pro touring treatment and then a twin turbo motor out of a Toyota Supra. What do you think? Sacrilegious? More pics after the jump! Via Pro-Touring.com

Video From the Mopars Unlimited 5th Annual Fred Meyer Meet and Greet

I think I need a camera with a wider lens. And more skill. But anyway, check out two videos after the jump–one quick tour of the show, and one short video of the beautiful 4-speed Hemi Road Runner! And if you missed the pics yesterday, you can see them here.

Reader’s Rides: Christian Färdig’s 1969 Plymouth Road Runner

Here’s another burly Mopar from Sweden. Christian purchased the yellow B-body off eBay back in 2010 and had it shipped across the Atlantic from Florida. It’s powered by a 440 with forged pistons, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum cylinder heads, Weiand Tunnel Ram Intake and Holley 600 carbs. It has a Coolit radiator with dual fans, ceramic coated headers and 3″ Flowmaster exhaust. It’s got a 727 transmission with a 3000 stall converter. It’s been tubed in the rear and has a full roll cage. Lots more pics after the jump!

4-Speed 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible on eBay

It’s getting harder and harder to find cars like this that have not been fully restored. And you usually don’t see them doing huge smokey burnouts in eBay ads! This original California 4-speed 1970 Plymouth Road Runner has been sitting in storage since 1990. It’s rough, needs a trunk floor and quarter patches, but damn it’s cool! More pics plus the eBay auction text after the jump. Seller wants $38,000 for it. Worth it? Oh, and the questions and answers at the bottom are hilarious.

Triple Black

Most people agree that triple black = black paint, black interior and black vinyl top (or black convertible top). Makes for one mean combo, especially on a Mopar. There was a great thread on this option combo on Moparts recently, with pics of some very cool Mopars like this triple black 1968 Dodge Cornonet R/T. More examples after the jump, including triple black ‘Cudas and Challengers!

Crazy Swedish 1946 Plymouth Deluxe Lowrider

We haven’t covered a whole lot of cars from the 1940s here, but this Swedish 1946 Plymouth Deluxe lowrider caught my eye. This thing was actually chopped in the ’60s, so the bodywork and paint work are forty years old. Emanuel Sandén has owned it for over ten years and has done a fair share of mods to it, including the 13-inch gold plated Daytons. (And it turns out this is the same guy who helped build the crazy Hemi-powered Volvo gasser we featured a while back.) So I guess Swedes dig Mopars, too. Check out the full feature at Speedhunters

Snake and Mongoose

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably have heard about the Snake and Mongoose movie that hits theaters September 6. The movie is about the rivalry between Don Prudhomme and Tom McEwen and their partnership with Mattel and how it changed drag racing forever. The cool thing is there also seems to be a bunch of vintage footage of their Plymouth funny cars in action. Anyway, check out the latest trailer after the jump!
