So I guess Motor Trend doesn’t like the Viper. Maybe they were mad that SRT gave them a beat press car with some hard miles and worn out tires. But the only car in their test that actually beat the Viper around Laguna Seca was the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series, a car that costs more than twice as much. Hmmm. So which one is the best driver’s car? Oh, a Porsche that was three seconds slower. Video after the jump.

Jalopnik’s 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona Review
Jalopnik recently drove a 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona all over Texas, and managed to snap a pic of it in front of the “Playboy Marfa” art installation I told you about last month. Although the reviewer seemed to like the car, he was disappointed by the 5-speed automatic and the quiet exhaust note. Oh, and the fuel economy. Well, the exhaust is an easy fix. Read the full review at Jalopnik and see what you think.
Lee Sicilio’s 1969 Dodge Daytona at Bonneville
Last year Bangshift ran this great feature on Lee Sicilio’s 1969 Dodge Daytona and his attempt to hit 300 mph at Bonneville. Well, he came back this year but his tranny blew up up 250 mph. There’s always next year…
Ram 1500 Rumble Bee Concept
Last week Ram unveiled the 1500 Rumble Bee Concept at the Woodward Dream Cruise. The Rumble Bee is based on the Ram 1500 R/T and comes with 5.7-liter Hemi V8 bumped up to a 395 horsepower with a cold-air intake. The truck has a 8-speed automatic and 4.10 rear end. Painted a matte “Drone Yellow,” the Rumble Bee has 24 inch Vellano VRH wheels and 2-inch drop provided by King Suspension. Check out all the pics and read the press release after the jump!
Mopar Album Cover: Big Sugar Hit and Run
This is the album cover for the Canadian band Big Sugar’s greatest hits album Hit and Run. Hard to go wrong with a 1970 Dodge Charger! Check out the back after the jump!
Movie Mopar of the Week: 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda from Two Lane Blacktop
The famous line is “That Plymouth had a Hemi with a Torqueflite,” but it appears to be an AAR ‘Cuda. And yeah, there’s a Daytona, too. Check out the opening scene after the jump!
Olympia Charger
Heard of the Olympia Charger? This NASCAR Dodge ran the 24 hours of Le Mans back in 1976. It then returned in 2006 for the Le Mans Classic and has gone back several times since then! I have some great video from its run in the rain last year after the jump!
Edmunds Tries to Pick Fight With Ralph Gilles on Twitter
Edmunds, a site best known for minivan comparisons and new car shopping tools for non-enthusiasts, is trying to pick a fight with Ralph Gilles in Twitter. The Edmunds people have scheduled a comparison test with the new C7 Corvette and claim that Ralph is “scared” to send the new Viper. Ralph claims all the Vipers are booked right now, owing to “Pebble beach, ALMS, Dream Cruise, peak time.. many shows, simply that time of year..” Scott Oldham counters that Ralph is “full of sh##.” Ralph Gilles replies “we are out of cars and clearly told you one is coming next month. Why are you being an A##” and “I am dissapionted with your aggression…” You can read the full exchange on Twitter.
Does Edmunds think this kind of thing helps their credibility or will increase their readership? Ultimately, I agree with Ralph that, while it will be interesting, “I don’t understand how an ultra low volume 180hp more powerful exotic needs to be compared?” At the end of the day Mopar people buy Vipers and Chevy people buy Corvettes. And arguments on Twitter are lame.
Audioslave “Show Me How To Live” is an Awesome Vanishing Point Tribute
Totally forgot about this great video by Audioslave from 2003, based on everybody’s favorite Mopar movie Vanishing Point. According to the guys at Bangshift, they used two Challengers during the filming of the video and then gave one away to a lucky fan when they were done. Video after the jump!
Twin Turbo Supra-Powered Plymouth Scamp
We’ve featured a lot of weird non-Mopar Hemi swaps. But this is the first time we’ve featured a Mopar with non-Mopar power. This 1971 Scamp was apparently rescued from an Arizona scrapyard. It then got the full pro touring treatment and then a twin turbo motor out of a Toyota Supra. What do you think? Sacrilegious? More pics after the jump! Via Pro-Touring.com
