SRT Viper GT3-R

SRT unveiled the Viper GT3-R at Le Mans this week. This competition-only package is eligible to compete in FIA GT3, United SportsCar Racing GT Daytona, Pirelli World Challenge GT, NARRA and SCCA/NASA and can be yours for just $459,000. Which is chump change when you consider the fact that the engine, chassis, suspension, electronics and aerodynamics are practically right out of the GTS-R GTE class car in the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans and the American Le Mans Series. The GT3-R is powered by the Viper V-10 race engine, which puts out 680-horsepower and 640-lb.-ft. of torque, and gears are shifted with a Xtrac 6-speed paddle shift. SRT is taking orders now for a late 2013 delivery. Reader’s Rides: Joshua Hannah’s 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7

Here’s our second reader’s ride, from Joshua Hannah of Arkansas.

This is my work in progress daily driver. I drive the piss out of this truck. I have done several visual, performance and weight saving mods. I have a long list of plans for the truck. I’m pretty much done in the looks department. On the interior I am going to have all door panels, trim and dash fabricated out of aluminum. The floor will be and top of the cab will be painted. Performance wise I want to put a fuel cell in the bed, put in a four link rear suspension/upgrade the front suspension and build a fresh motor. It may take me a few more years, but I love this truck!

Keep the awesome Mopars coming to: moparblog at gmail dot com! And you can see more pics of Joshua’s cool Dakota plus his Mopar tattoo after the jump!

Could the New Fiat-Chrysler Headquarters End Up in Tennessee?

According to The Detroit News, Tennessee state officials are urging Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne to move the company’s new joint headquarters to Tennessee after the proposed merger completes next year. After meeting with Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam at a Fiat subsidiary plant in Pulaski, Tennessee, Marchionne said that officials have been “working me over pretty well.” Although it is doubtful that Chrysler would leave Detroit, such a move would make Fiat-Chrylser the third automaker to move to Tennessee, after Nissan and Volkswagen.

1970 Challenger 340 Convertible Barn Find

This green 4-speed 340 Challenger convertible has been sitting in a shack near San Francisco since 1978! Just 70,000 miles–it was parked when the clutch started to slip– and same owner since 1989! Right now the owner is trying to figure out what it’s worth, and whether to sell. I bet there’d be a lot of interest in this one if it did come up for sale… Tons of pics after the jump! Via Moparts

Purple 1970 Plymouth Sport Satellite

Here’s one more B-body from the Mopars Unlimited Spring Roundup in Seattle this weekend. The purple Sport Satellite drove over 1,000 miles to get to the show from Calgary, Alberta Canada–through Montana and then over the snowy Chinook Pass at over 6000 feet of elevation! Not bad for an old carbureted Mopar! More pics after the jump–in the snow and at the show! Snow pics via Moparts

Wing Cars at the 2013 Mopars Ulimited Spring Roundup

There was a good wing car turnout as always at the 2013 Mopars Ulimited Spring Roundup. And as always, sometimes some of the coolest cars are not in the show–they are just sitting in the parking lot like this badass black Daytona! More pics after the jump!
