Edmunds, a site best known for minivan comparisons and new car shopping tools for non-enthusiasts, is trying to pick a fight with Ralph Gilles in Twitter. The Edmunds people have scheduled a comparison test with the new C7 Corvette and claim that Ralph is “scared” to send the new Viper. Ralph claims all the Vipers are booked right now, owing to “Pebble beach, ALMS, Dream Cruise, peak time.. many shows, simply that time of year..” Scott Oldham counters that Ralph is “full of sh##.” Ralph Gilles replies “we are out of cars and clearly told you one is coming next month. Why are you being an A##” and “I am dissapionted with your aggression…” You can read the full exchange on Twitter.
Does Edmunds think this kind of thing helps their credibility or will increase their readership? Ultimately, I agree with Ralph that, while it will be interesting, “I don’t understand how an ultra low volume 180hp more powerful exotic needs to be compared?” At the end of the day Mopar people buy Vipers and Chevy people buy Corvettes. And arguments on Twitter are lame.
I have to agree that at the end of the day, Mopar fans look to the Viper & GM people go for the Vette. And every time you turn around, someone is building one faster than the other. So last year Viper beat Vette & this year it could be the other way around. Personally, I favor the Viper, even if the Vette were faster. Viper just screams ‘I’m comin’ to get ya!!!!’
as a Corvette owner/fanatic, I personally Love Vipers. and am very proud that BOTH of these fine super cars are built in the USA. They both provide world-class performance at a reasonable cost, when compared to other cars of similar performance, long may they BOTH continue, and challenge each other. Ralph Gilles and the Viper team as well as the Corvette team should be proud of the cars they bring to the American buyer.
edmunds is to performance car review as cnn is to real news, which is a joke
The Corvette is the most over- glorified, over -rated, under-qualified, plastic piece of junk to ever hit the roads around the world. If you are another American who plays follow the leader and never had an original thought in your small mind….the Corvette is your car. There are billions of them like a kid with acne. Just what we need….another plastic car that handles like crap when compared to European supercars on TOP GEAR even with indy suspension. Choose the VIPER if you have an ounce of individualism, and the cahones to drive it. My goodness, just put the Chevy brainwashing in the “DONIKER” where it belongs. March to a different drummer for once in your life America! Mopar will always be GREATER than Chevrolet.
