Allpar has put together a collection of Hellcat trivia. The first one floored us: “The 5.7L Hemi makes its 410 lb-ft. peak torque at 4,800 RPM; the Hellcat makes 411 lb-ft at 1,200 RPM.” More trivia after the jump!
- The 2.4-liter supercharger runs 14,600RPM at just over 11PSI.
- The engine flows 30,000 liters of air per minute.
- It takes 80 horsepower to drive the supercharger.
- There are 21,000 lb of load on each piston; because of that, they use diamond coated piston pins.
- Each Hellcat is dyno-tested for 42 minutes at loads up to 90% at 5,200RPM.
- The fuel injectors flow 600cc per minute and can fill a pint glass in 7 seconds.
- The automatic’s capacity was upgraded by 30%, using new disks.
- The manual transmission is from the Viper, but has added internal coolers.
- 90% of the supercharged engine’s parts are new.
- The ECU is locked; for the aftermarket to change the tuning, they will need to use their own controllers.
