A couple of motorcycle racers in Japan, who used Dodge Ram Vans to transport their motorcycles to and from the track, decided to take their transporters onto the track for a friendly race. It caught on and, eight years later, the resulting “race cars” are some seriously modified Dodge vans that compete in a yearly D-Van Grand Prix. We love it! Find more info at Hooniverse. In one corner, a 1970 Challenger R/T 440 4-speed. There were less than 100 built in black. This very car was chosen by Dodge to star in their commercial for the debut of the new for 2012 Challenger. In the other corner, a 2015 Challenger Hellcat X. As 707 hp was not deemed enough, they bolted on two turbochargers to bump the output to over 800 hp! The fine folks at Dream Giveaways have outdone themselves again. The winner also gets $40,000 to cover the taxes! Help some great charities and get a chance to win this dream team. Motor Authority has a piece on a 1967 Hurst Barracuda that recently paid a visit to Jay Leno’s Garage. Built by B&M (aka Hurst), the car is powered by a 360 that’s been punched out to 408 cubic inches and is pushing 500 hp. Coupled with a TKO 600 5 speed and working thru a Hotchkis suspension, it’s looks to be restomodded just enough. Video after the jump!
Bring A Trailer has a piece on this 1967 Coronet wagon featuring conservative white paint, durable steel wheels, a practical bench seat and a 528 Hemi power plant. Wait. What? Also hidden from view is a Ron Mancini built 727, Wilwood brakes and exhaust cutouts. It is for sale on For B Bodies Only. More pics after the jump!
Barn Finds spotted this 1970 Barracuda on eBay. The 318 powered, somewhat plain Jane, E body shows some interior wear and lower body rust through but, overall, a very nice driver. We hope the new owner keeps it original and doesn’t turn it into yet another Hemi Cuda clone. Follow the energetic eBay bidding here. More pics and video tour after the jump!
Yes, you read that right…mate! Curbside Classic has a piece on a 1971 Charger with a six pack Hemi under the hood, all 265 cubic inches. Find more info at Curbside Classic. More pics after the jump!
Larry Van Zyl backed a weathered, 318 powered Challenger into his garage and ten months later out came a beautiful Ray Barton 528 powered Hemi 4 speed E body. Find more info on the build at Hot Rod. More pics after the jump!
Motorweek takes the Hellcat stable mates to a track for a workout. In thirty plus years of watching Motorweek, this is the first time that I’ve heard John Davis say “Here kitty kitty”. Video after the jump!
