Selling a car at Barrett Jackson: Registering the Car and Prepping it for Auction

When a person decides to sell a car at Barrett Jackson you need to fill out the entry form with a description of the car and pictures.  Barrett then decides whether they will accept the car.  Once they decide to accept the car then they tell you which day they slot you in and you decide whether you are OK with running it that day.  Barrett told my Dad they wanted to run the car on Wednesday night January 15th between 7 and 8 PM and he decided to go for it.

After confirming with Barrett Jackson the next step was to get the car ready for auction.  As you can see in the picture it is a very nicely restored car so all he had to do was get it professionally detailed.  You also have to come up with a good description for the auction catalog and to put on a car at the auction itself.

The description should accurately describe the car but keep it brief.  For example if the engine is not #’s matching you do not want to mention that.  Let the buyer ask about that.  Also a lot of times bidders won’t have even seen the car before it goes on the block and they bid on it anyways.  You don’t want them to read “not numbers matching” when going over the block.

Our next post will be about transportation to the auction and prepping the car once there.

The car is lot number 501 and is going to be going up on the block Wednesday night on Fox Business channel between 7-8 PM. Are you going to be watching? Should be fun to watch! We will be putting up blog posts all week from Barrett Jackson as well so stay tuned!

1966 Dodge Charger “Big Sugar”

After this very nice first generation Charger was involved in an accident in 2007, the owner took the opportunity to stray from stock by installing a Hotchkiss suspension, adding chassis reinforcements and upgrading the brakes. I’m loving the American Racing Torque Flite wheels. See the story of how the car got it’s name at Petrolicious. More pics after the jump!

Roadkill Builds a Mad Max Style 1968 Charger

You were expecting a concours restoration, maybe? The latest episode of Hot Rod’s Roadkill finds Freiburger and Finnegan building a Charger from a rolling shell, a motorhome 440 and their Fury’s 727. It took six months–not their usual six days–and in their opinion, it’s the best episode of Roadkill ever. It looks mean and sounds meaner. Video after the jump!

Vintage Mopar NASCAR Photo of the Week: Bobby Allison/Rossi 1969 Dodge Charger 500

This is a picture of the Bobby Allison 1969 Dodge Charger 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.  This car was owned and built by Rossi Automotive Engineering.  You can see Bobby putting the bumble bee stripe himself on the back of the car–imagine a current NASCAR driver putting his own decals on the car!

1968 Slant Six Charger Survivor

Want a 1968 Charger with a rare engine option? How about this survivor still sprouting it’s 225 ci six? It was second in rarity only to the Hemi. It was found in the lot of a Mopar restoration shop. Word is that the powertrain is staying. Good. I think it would draw more attention than one equipped with a crate Hemi. See more detail and a history of the Charger at Curbside Classics. More pics after the jump!
