Richard Petty’s 1970 Superbird Rides again
Richard Petty seems to have a soft spot for the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Last June, the King lapped Goodwood in his 1966 Daytona winning Belvedere. Find that video here. This year the plan is to drive his 1970 Superbird! He recently gave his Goodwood friends a tour of his North Carolina shop and a spin in his 1970 winged warrior. Find more info at Street Legal TV. It’s a great week for 1970 Hemi Cuda fans! This one is part of the Brother’s collection and is the latest featured car on Muscle Car of the Week. Unfortunately, thanks to Mopar Action’s Rick Ehrenberg, I can’t seem to see past the missing behind-the-grille blackout treatment! Video after the jump!

One Smooth 1970 Plymouth Barracuda
Steve Oliveira purchased this 318 powered Barracuda in 1977. After a few, shall we say, modifications it has become the blown, 605 ci Hemi-powered, +1000 hp beauty that you see here. He describes the car with the following statement: “Whereas a modern car invites you to take it out for a drive, this one dares you to.” We like that! Find more info at Hot Rod. Wednesday at Russo and Steele
Here are some highlights from the Russo and Steele auction from the Wednesday preview.
This is a 1970 Hemi Superbird and probably the best Mopar at Russo.
Tuesday at Barrett-Jackson
Tuesday is normally not a super exciting day at Barrett-Jackson, but since Barrett was selling the majority of the Ron Pratte collection that night, the room was full and the bidding was crazy. Ron is a big time collector in the Phoenix area and had been buying high end cars at Barrett-Jackson for years. He decided to liquidate his collection through BJ and it was very fun to watch. This included two Hemi Mopars that did very well. The first car up was a 1970 Dodge Charger with a 426 Hemi and a 4-speed. Bidding was furious and shot up to $190,000 right away–unseen levels for a Hemi B-Body. It ended up at $200,000. Here is a picture of the car:
