Street Hemis Featured at Hemmings Concourse d’Elegance
Ma Mopar’s elephant engine got some serious respect this weekend in New York’s Saratoga Spa State Park at Hemmings Motor News Concourse d’Elegance. I wish I lived anywhere near there! I can almost hear that sweet lumpy idle. The article in Hemmings gives a great synopsis of the engine that dominated NASCAR. Read about it here.
Update: you can see some pics here.

1979 AMC Spirit AMX For Sale on Hemmings
Daniel Strohl at Hemmings spotted this awesome 1979 AMC Spirit AMX in their classifieds, which is said to be a rust free, two-owner car. The original 304 has been replaced with a fairly stout 360, so this thing is probably a hoot to drives, especially with the 4-speed. The $13,900 asking price seems pretty reasonable for such a solid and unique car–one of just 1,834 produced. More pics after the jump, and be sure to check out the ad at Hemmings!
AMX Prototype Featured in August Issue of Hemmings Classic Car
AMC built just a few of these fiberglass-bodied AMX prototypes. This particular example was supposed to be incinerated, but instead was rescued by a line worker in AMC’s Kenosha assembly plant–for just $50! It is still owned by the same family and is featured in the current issue of Hemmings Classic Car.
