Twin Turbo Supra-Powered Plymouth Scamp

We’ve featured a lot of weird non-Mopar Hemi swaps. But this is the first time we’ve featured a Mopar with non-Mopar power. This 1971 Scamp was apparently rescued from an Arizona scrapyard. It then got the full pro touring treatment and then a twin turbo motor out of a Toyota Supra. What do you think? Sacrilegious? More pics after the jump! Via Pro-Touring.com

      • Closed minded, yes, but Still very VERY wrong for that car. It is no better or worse than the NISMO engine in the Stang in Tokyo drift

        • The bigger sacrilege was that the amazing NISMO RB26 engine was wasted on a Mustang.

  1. What a shame. Beautiful car, jap motor. This is not American muscle.
How can you possibly call this “pro touring”? Maybe if you were
    “touring” in Japan….

  2. The 2JZ makes 320hp@5600rpm and 315lbs@4000rpm Torque. It can reliably make 800HP on the stock bottom end by adding more fuel and air. It costs $1700!!!! with the overdrive automatic transmission complete. These take out engines typically have 50000 miles on them. In my mind this is true hot rodding. A Scamp is a nice car but it is not a particularly rare or valuable car, so I see no wrong in this. If it was a Hemi Cuda’ or whatever obviously sacrilege, but were talking about “1971 Scamp that was apparently rescued from an Arizona scrapyard”.

  3. The 2jz is a good motor but the sound of a ricer should never come out of an old school, especially not a mopar. Mopars sound the best in my opinion.
