The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation on the 2003-2008 Dodge Viper after as many as eight accidents all showed post-crash damage to the rear suspension knuckles. Eight months and 9,670 Vipers later, they determined that the knuckles were damaged as a result of the accidents and were not a cause. The true cause of the accidents was deemed to be human error.
