Plymouth Barracuda’s 50th Birthday
It’s been 50 years since Plymouth rolled out the world’s first pony car, even before the term pony car was coined. It came into the world quietly, grew to intimidate the competition with big blocks, hemispherical combustion chambers and SCCA racing, then bowed out quietly just as the fuel crisis hit. All proceeds benefit the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation, dedicated to serving those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia, along with providing support for families. According to the Foundation: “This vehicle is one of 27 Dodge Coronet R/T 426 Hemi’s built in 1967 at the St. Louis, Mo., plant and sold new in the United States. It is the only one sold by BJ Performance guru, Mr. Norm from Grand Spalding Dodge in Chicago. It has been completely decoded and certified by Galen V.
